The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Prof. Zheng Jin-Cheng and his student Ng Yi Sheng from the Department of New Energy Science and Engineering, Xiamen University Malaysia, on their recent publication in ACS Applied Energy Materials (IF: 5.5).
Ng Yi Sheng, a PhD candidate from Department of New Energy Science and Engineering, conducted this research under the supervision of Prof. Zheng Jin-Cheng .
The article, titled "Machine Learning with Interpretable Local Descriptors for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on Borophene: Prediction and Physical Insights", presents a machine learning framework to investigate the theoretical catalytic efficiency of borophene for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), a key process in green hydrogen production. Borophene, a two-dimensional material composed solely of boron, exhibits a range of structural phases distinguished only by atomic arrangement. This study systematically analyzes these structural variations and their influence on catalytic activity, revealing the conditions that optimize HER performance.
