The XMUM Alpha Team from the School of Economics and Management was named 1st Runner-Up in the prestigious Eastspring Business Challenge 2025, held on 26 April at Level 22, Menara Prudential, TRX. The event gathered students from over 60 universities across the region to pitch innovative strategies for recruiting young unit trust consultants for Eastspring Investments.
Comprising Wa Yee Keat, Wa Yee Siong, Yaw Jun Geng, and Koh Yoong Xuen, the XMUM team impressed the judges with a comprehensive proposal that combined a targeted social media campaign with a detailed campus outreach plan. Their solution demonstrated strong market insight, creativity, and feasibility.
Guided by their mentor, Mr. Derek Foo, the team delivered a compelling 20-minute presentation that outlined how Eastspring could differentiate itself in a competitive market. Their use of hashtags such as #Eastspringmy and #BusinessChallenge2025 on social media platforms helped amplify their message and engage peers meaningfully, gathering feedback and support throughout the process.
As recognition for their efforts, the team received a RM5,000 cash prize, reflecting the strength of their research, planning, and teamwork.
This achievement highlights XMUM's commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking and industry-relevant competencies among students. It also demonstrates how student-led innovation can contribute real value to business practices in the financial sector.
