On 15 April, Wong Yu Xin, an undergraduate student from Chemical Engineering programme at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), presented her research project at PETRONAS Symposium. 

Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the event was organised by Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and brought together leading researchers and academics from institutions such as Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and PETRONAS Research Sdn. Bhd. (PRSB).

During the event, Wong Yu Xin, who has conducted her research under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping and Adjunct Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, was invited to showcase her research findings in the field of Passive Daytime Radiative Cooling (PDRC). The symposium aimed to foster collaboration between academia and industry by providing a platform for sharing insights into the latest PDRC research and developments.

Her presentation, titled Life Cycle Assessment for Low-Carbon Office Cabin with PDRC Paint and Stone Wool Insulation, is part of PETRONAS' broader initiative to develop energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable building solutions. Her research explores practical, cost-effective methods to reduce energy consumption in building design, supporting Malaysia’s climate objectives and PETRONAS' net-zero carbon aspirations.

Wong Yu Xin was also selected for an industrial training placement at PETRONAS from 20 January to 28 March 2025, under a collaborative initiative between XMUM and PETRONAS. Recommended by her supervisors, she was placed in the Project Delivery & Technology Department, where she had the opportunity to participate in professional meetings, engage with engineers and researchers, and gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies.
