On 18 January 2025, the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) successfully hosted the 7th White Coat Ceremony, a solemn and meaningful event dedicated to the Class of 2102 and 2104 (15th and 16th Cohorts) TCM students who are set to embark on their clinical internships at Xiamen University’s affiliated hospitals.
This year’s White Coat Ceremony honored 31 students, with the presence of Dr. Zhang Ying, Vice President of XMUM, Prof. Chen Shaodong, Dean of STCM, and faculty members of STCM. The event featured inspiring speeches from XMUM management and STCM faculty members, underscoring the profound responsibilities and mission that future medical practitioners uphold.
The white coat symbolizes the purity and honor of the medical profession, carrying the hopes and expectations for the next generation of TCM practitioners. The solemn recitation of the oath - “I pledge my life to the service of health and humanity” - serves as a constant reminder for students to uphold medical ethics, pursue academic excellence, and contribute to the advancement of TCM and the well-being of society.
The ceremony featured a tribute video, capturing the students’ journey and aspirations, offering a touching experience for students and their families. During the oath-taking segment, students stood before their mentors and loved ones, pledging their dedication to the medical profession with utmost determination and respect.
